ISEM! Smile!

Continuing with my posts about my Christmas Celebration in the Philippines, today I'm sharing the concert I attended at the Cathedral. On December 22nd, the Cathedral of the Episcopal Diocese of Santiago hosted the Holy Guardian Angels Parish Choir from Pica, La Trinidad, Benguet.

The name of the concert, isem, means smile in Ilocano. And they did make everyone smile! The feeling in the Cathedral was upbeat, celebratory, and buzzing with anticipation of Christmas Day celebrations as it was packed to the gills with people from all over Isabela Province.

The Holy Guardian Angels gave renditions of sacred, folk, and pop Christmas songs. They sang one of my favorites, "Mary, did you know?"(video below). To add more music to the concert, St. Stephen's, Namillagan choir, a combination of youth and adults, joined in for opening and intermission hymns.

After scrambling to sell tickets and prepare for the event, it was a great success! Everyone appeared to enjoy themselves and all the proceeds went to EDS Choir Ministry! Another wonderful way to celebrate during the Christmas Season.

Thanks for reading!
